For the final hour of this evening,今天晚上最后一个一节呢,We will go through the communion Sunday order of worship for May 7th and there will be more than just this,there’s more material coming.我们会讲5月7号的,也就是过去的星期天的圣餐主日的崇拜程序,还有其他一些要交代的事情。Please turn to page 31.请翻到第三十一页。For every Sunday worship service since January 1 this year,自从今年一月一号开始,每一个主日,I put together the Chinese,and I put together in Chinese and in English the order worship.我编了中文的程序,也编英文的程序的。Now as you noticed for the English,order worship is very long,because I put all the words of the hymns and the scripture readings in the order.因为英文呢,我把经文跟歌词都放在程序里面,所以英文的程序是比较长的。Sometimes I just make it bilingual,有的时候是双语的,and in Chinese and in English I write something which in the beginning I called program notes.我也写了一篇东西,有中文版有英文版,起初我称它做内容说明。It’s a little bit like when you get a program when you go to a concert.就好像你去音乐会,你拿到节目单。It’s not just the program,there are some notes there.有的时候除了节目以外,它会介绍很多东西的。This is what this is,这个就是指这一类的program notes。But I changed the name to guide to worship.后来我把名字改掉叫做敬拜指引。
For May 7 the sermon theme was very serious and very solemn,very stern,五月七号的讲题是非常的严肃严厉的,it’s about discipline,church discipline.讲道是讲到教会的纪律或者惩戒。So I expanded on the sermon title,所以我把讲道的讲题再扩大,and I entitled the theme for the worship service obeying our holy God together,a shepherd’s heart and discipline,我就把崇拜的主题称之为:齐心顺服圣洁的神——牧者心、管教情。
This is what the guide says:敬拜指南这样说的:Today is Communion Sunday,今天是圣餐主日,we should prepare our hearts,我们应该预备好自己的心,because God is holy,因为神是圣洁的,He does not tolerate sin,上帝万不以有罪的为无罪的。So we must discern the Lord’s body during the Lord’s supper,so that we don’t drink our own condemnation.所以我们必须分辨主的身体,不然就是吃喝自己的罪的。Just these verses from First Corinthians 11 are stern enough,光是哥林多前书十一章,这些的经文就已经够严厉的,not to mention the verses we’ll read for the sermon.还没有说到讲道的经文。
However for Christians who repent these stern verses are also a source of great comfort.但是对愿意认罪悔改的基督徒来说,这些严厉的经文应该是带来很大的安慰的。God is holy,神是圣洁的,it does not only mean that our personal conduct should be holy,不仅仅是说我们的个人道德要圣洁,that is of course true,当然是如此,but the whole church,the conduct of the church should be holy as well.整个教会的操守也应该是圣洁的。So we use the word together,我们在主题用了“齐心”这两个字,that means the whole church,是指整个教会,from leaders to members,from members to leaders.从领袖到会友,从会友到领袖。And we need to pray this prayer which is expressed in offering hymn at the end,我们应该这样祷告,这个是最后散会之前唱的奉献诗歌,Have thine own way,Lord.《凭你的旨意行,主》。Together as the church,整个教会这样说,Have thine own way,Lord.求主按照你的旨意来行。
That’s the end of worship service.那个是崇拜的结束。Now let’s go back to the beginning.我们来到前面开始的时候。God is holy,神是圣洁的,the angles declare holy,holy,holy,Isaish 6.天使宣告神是圣哉圣哉圣哉的,以赛亚第六章。And so we on earth must also cry out holy,holy,holy and that’s the title of the opening hymn.所以我们地上人也应该喊叫圣哉圣哉圣哉,这个是我们开始的崇拜的诗歌。
And I go on to explain two meanings of the word holy.下面我解释圣洁这个字有两个意思。One is,God is different from us;第一,圣洁的意思是神与我们不同;Second He is sinless.第二,祂是无罪的。So therefore the hymn says that it is our sin that covers up the glory of His holiness.是因为我们有罪所以我们遮盖了看不到祂的荣耀的圣洁的。Only through the blood of Jesus can we see his holiness again.唯有依靠耶稣的宝血我们可以再次看到祂的荣耀。And only through Jesus we can sing to respond to His holiness.唯有透过耶稣基督我们可以来歌唱回应祂的圣洁的。So you see here we have both an attribute of God and the doctrine of salvation.这里我们有神的属性,有基督论,有救赎论。
And we repent of our sins after we read the 10 commandments.我们读完十诫我们悔改。And the scripture for the promise of forgiveness comes from First Peter chapter 2,然后我们来听赦罪的应许经文,是来自彼得前书第二章的,verse 5 and verse 9.第五节跟第九节。Of course in verse 1 and 2,在第一第二节,Peter says:“we should crave,we should desire spiritual milk.”彼得说(在第一第二节),我们要喝灵奶。It means that we should desire the word of God,the Bible.意思就是说我们要追求神的话,追求圣经。And then in verse 5 it says,第五节彼得说,As we come to Christ,当我们来到主基督面前的时候,we as a church are being built up to become a Temple,我们整个教会被建造成为灵宫的。
So we’re not only talking about personal maturity,不仅仅是个人的成熟,that is what verse 1 and verse 2 is all about,第一节第二节讲到个人的成熟,verse 5 is talking about the maturity of the whole church.第五节是在讲整个教会的成熟。Not just individuals,不仅仅是个人,likewise verse 9.还有第九节。As the church as a whole we are God chosen people,a royal priest,holy nation.整个教会是神的选民,被拣选的族类,君尊的祭司,圣洁的国度等等。And so we respond to God’s holiness by being remained of our personal holiness and the church’s holiness。所以我们怎么回应神的圣洁?我们看到我们个人要圣洁,整个教会也要圣洁的。Now that leads us,you see,to the theme of discipline.这个就带我们进到教会纪律的这个主题。Then we have communion the lord’s supper.然后我们守圣餐。Let me here,perhaps for the first time at this church,share with you the reformation reformed view of the lord’s supper.可能在这个教会我第一次分享宗教改革,改革宗的圣餐观。For most of us Christians,我们大部分的基督徒,we think of the Lord’s supper bottom up.我们一般是从下而上看圣餐的。We remember Jesus,the cross.我们记念耶稣和十字架。We come to Jesus.我们来到基督的面前。In fact it’s how we seen of the whole worship service,我们对整个主日崇拜也是这样看的,from bottom-up.从下而上的。
Let me ask you,我问你一个问题,in the worship service,在主日崇拜,we come to God,我们来到神的面前,bottom-up.从下而上。Is God here?神在这里吗?Yes,He is there.So what is He doing here?神在这里做什么事啊?He is watching and receiving our prays?祂在观看领受我们的敬拜吗?We are the actors,God is the audience.我们是演员,祂是观众吗?No.错。God is the Lord,He is the master,He is the owner,we are the servants.神是主人,我们是仆人。What is God doing here?那神在做什么呢?Well,He speaks to the Word.祂透过祂的话讲话。The holy spirit convicts us of sin,圣灵叫我们扎心知罪,the holy spirit uses the Word to teach,instruct us.圣灵用圣经来教导教训我们。And Jesus through the holy spirit comforts us that’s what we sing that no.2 hymn.耶稣透过圣灵安慰我们,所以我们唱那首第二首的诗歌.Sometimes we sing“God will take care of you”,有的时候我们会唱《天父必看顾你》的,or“It is well with my soul”.或是《我心灵得安宁》。So what is God doing here?The Father, the Son and the Spirit,We need ask that question.所以我们要问圣父圣子圣灵在这里做什么的?
That requires us to turn our mindset upside down.所以我们必须,我们的思想全部翻转过来。Not just we come to God,that of course we do we must do,不单是我们来神面前,当然我们应该来神面前,and our worship be few.我们话要稀少。Ecclesiastes Chapter 5,传道书第五章,We also should be joyful and give thanks and sing and even dance.是的,我们也应该唱歌跳舞来赞美神。We must not invite God to the worship service,we have no right to invite God。我们不可以邀请神来,哪里有资格邀请神呢?God invites us and he commands us,神邀请我们神吩咐我们来,so we humbly come.我们乖乖地来就是了。Ok,now that’s the whole worship service.这就是整个崇拜。
Now let’s talk specifically about the Lord’s supper.好了,我们来看圣餐。We also look at the lord’s supper from the bottom up.我们也是从下而上看圣餐的。I remember Jesus dying for me,我记念耶稣为我死,that’s biblical,这个是对的,符合圣经的,is correct,good and precious是对的、好的,是宝贵的。But it is not the whole story of the lord’s supper.但是圣餐不仅仅是这么多的。Here comes a reformed view.我们来讲改革宗的圣餐观。Jesus says,this is my body,耶稣说,这是我的身体,the cup is my blood.这个杯是我的血。What does the word “is” mean?“这是”那个“是”那个字什么意思呢?We evangelical says, oh,that just means just sign,我们福音派一般说,这个就是记号喽。It represents my body,这个饼代表我的身体,this cup represents my blood.杯中的酒代表基督的血。Of course it does,that is true这个是对的。But the word “is” is more than just a symbol.但是“是”这个字不仅仅是代表的意思的啵。Jesus elsewhere in John goes so far as saying,eat my flesh,drink my blood.耶稣在约翰福音说,你要吃我的肉喝我的血。And Jesus says,I am the bread of life,耶稣说我就是生命的粮,What does the word “am”(I am the bread)mean?耶稣说,我是生命的粮,这个“是”什么意思呢?Now we often don’t think of that question,一般我们不会想这个问题,because we’re not Catholics,we’re not Lutherans and we’re not reformed,at least not reformed enough.因为我们不是天主教,也不是路德宗,也不是改革宗,至少不够改革宗。
The bread is the symbol,that’s absolutely correct.饼是一个记号,完全正确的。The bread is not the muscles of Jesus Christ,the flesh,这个饼不是耶稣的肌肉,不是祂的身体,The wine is not the blood,red blood cells or white blood cells of Jesus.这个杯中的酒或者葡萄汁不是耶稣的什么红血球白血球,不是嘛,对不对?But remember,that is the Roman Catholic view.但是不要忘记,这个是天主教的教导的啵。We don’t ,that’s we’re not Catholic.所以我们不是天主教的,啊?Now let’s come to Martin Luther and Lutheran church.那么马丁路德跟路德宗呢?This is what Martin Luther thinks.马丁路德是这样想的。Remember I was just telling you that Jesus is in heaven,耶稣是在天上,Jesus is God,耶稣是神。God is everywhere,so Jesus is everywhere.神无所不在,所以耶稣也无所不在。Jesus is God but Jesus is also man.耶稣是神,耶稣也是人啵。The human nature of Jesus is not everywhere,it’s in heaven.耶稣的人性不是无所不在的,人不是无所不在的,耶稣的人性在天上。Ok,the human nature of Jesus is not down here,it’s in heaven,耶稣的人性不在这里,在天上,body and soul.祂的身体跟祂的灵魂。But as God he is everywhere.祂是神的儿子,祂到处都在。Martin Luther does not think this way,路德不是这样想的,he believes that Jesus as God and Jesus as man together is everywhere.他认为耶稣是神,耶稣是人,神人无所不在,As we have a piece of bread,我们有一块饼在这里,the bread of the Lord’s Supper,圣餐的饼,Jesus’s body,where is it?耶稣的身体在哪里啊?Well,for Luther Jesus of human nature is everywhere.对路德来说,耶稣的人性到处都是无所不在。And so Jesus’s body is on top of the bread,under the bread,on the left side,right side and inside,but the bread is not Jesus’s body,because Jesus body is everywhere in the whole universe.耶稣的身体在整个宇宙,所以这个饼的上下左右里面都在,但这个饼不是耶稣的身体。
You say,isn’t that very confusing?I say,yes,it’s very confusing,that’s why I’m not a Lutheran.我不是信义宗,因为这个是很混乱的一个的讲法。In the same way,Jesus blood is all over that cup of wine,but that wine is not Jesus’s blood.同样地,那杯酒到处都是耶稣的血,但是那个酒不是耶稣的血。Ok,so we’re not Catholics,we’re not Lutherans.我们不是天主教,我们不是路德宗的。But as reformed I also am not a Zwinglian.但是我是改革宗的,我也不是慈运理派。你说,What is an Zwinglian?那什么叫慈运理派呢?It is that bottom up approach I was just describing for you.刚才我讲的从下而上就是慈运理派。所以你的观点是有个名字的啵,Your viewpoint has a name,it’s called Zwinglianism,the Zwinglian view.慈运理的观点,ok。The reform view is,改革宗的观点是,The Lord’s supper and baptism,they are signs and seals of the covenant of Grace.圣餐和洗礼是恩典之约的记号和印证。We all know what sign means,but we’ll come back to it.我们都知道什么叫记号,下面我们再要讲的,讲得不够。
Seal印证,a seal is like a chop.盖章,图章,ok。So what is God or Jesus, God and Jesus doing?What kind of chop is He making in the Lord’s supper?所以在圣餐,上帝跟主耶稣是怎么样在盖章?盖什么章?God is reinforcing and again guaranteeing all of his promises which he made in the covenant or in a Gospel.上帝跟主耶稣在圣餐的时候再一次地保证盖章,说我所应许的在约里面,在基督里在福音里应许的,都是真的。All my promises are true,I will carry them up.我一定会实现我的应许的。Jesus says,I will be with you until the end of the world.耶稣说,我必与你们同在直到世界的末了。Well,the Lord’s supper is Jesus saying that promise again to you,所以圣餐就是耶稣把这个应许再次跟你说。All of the promises,所有的应许,Second Corinthians 1:20 says,Second Corinthians says that Jesus is the yes and amen of God.林后一章20节说,耶稣基督是神一切的应许的阿们。
It means that Jesus is the chop,the seal of all of God’s promises,耶稣是神一切应许的盖章或者印证,and the Lord’s supper is the most concrete chop or seal.圣餐是这个印证最具体的表达的方法。Let me put it in a different way.我用另外一个角度来讲。You are a Christian who loves Jesus,你是爱主耶稣的基督徒,Isn’t it your wish to draw near to Jesus during the Lord’s supper?你来到圣餐岂不是想要亲近主耶稣吗?Don’t you want fellowship with him?你岂不是要跟祂交通吗?Yes,of course.当然是的。Jesus knows your wish before you even make that wish,你还没有想到这个意愿之前耶稣就已经知道的。That’s why He established Lord’s supper,所以祂设立圣餐,to be with you,来亲近你,to fellowship with you,来跟你交通。Jesus says I’m the bread of life.耶稣说我是生命的粮。Jesus says this is my body.耶稣说这个饼是我的身体。Of course it is not literally His body,当然不是祂的身体,His body is in heaven.祂的身体在天上。So what does that mean when Jesus says this bread is my body?所以耶稣说这个饼是我的身体什么意思呢?It means that the Lord’s supper is Jesus feeding you every time.意思就是说圣餐,每一次圣餐耶稣在喂养你。
What does the cup of wine mean?这杯酒什么意思呢?What does wine do?酒是做什么的?It refreshes.是滋润人的。And so Jesus is nourishing us our hearts and giving us joy again every time.所以每一次我们守圣餐耶稣滋润我们的心灵,再次给我们喜乐。Chewing that piece of bread and swallowing it is real,吃这块饼吞下去是真的,drinking that little bit of juice or wine is real,喝那一口的酒或者葡萄汁是真的,that is how real Jesus feeds you and nurses you.耶稣喂养你就是这么真,祂滋润你给你喜乐就是这么真。
Let me repeat.我再重复。Isn’t it your desire to draw near to Jesus, you know Lord’s supper?你来到圣餐岂不就是要亲近耶稣的吗?Well,of course,that’s His idea to draw near to you and to feed you.是祂想出来的,祂要喂养你,祂要滋润你。It’s a seal,是印证来的,it’s a sign.是记号。Now there is a very complicated sentence,but I need to explain it.有一句很复杂的话我必须要解释的。There is a relationship between the sign and the thing signified.记号(饼、杯)和记号所代表的(就是基督的身体跟血)之间是有关系的。It’s not just a symbol.不仅仅是一个记号。So it’s not just as,oh,that’s just the bread that represent Jesus’s body.不是说,哦,这个是饼罢了,只不过是代表耶稣的身体。
What does bread do?饼做什么呢?So it feeds us.喂养我们的。So in the bread is the reality that Jesus is the bread of life.所以饼有这个真理,耶稣是生命的粮。Jesus wants to feed your soul.耶稣要喂养你的心灵的。So as reformed Christians we don’t say,oh,it’s only a ceremony,it’s just a sign.所以我们改革宗的不会说,哦,只不过是仪式罢了,这个饼只是记号罢了。We don’t say only.我们不说罢了的。Why?为什么不说罢了?Because Jesus established,He’s God.因为耶稣设立的,祂是神。Very often we Christians take too lightly both baptism and the Lord’s Supper.很多时候我们基督徒看圣餐跟洗礼看得太轻了。And non-Christians seem to take it more serious than we do.非基督徒好像看圣餐、洗礼比我们看得更加的严肃。
