Now I realize that different denominations put together different hymn books according to their theology.不同宗派编写不同的诗歌本有反映出它们的神学。The hymn book that i was taught to use in the seminary years，当我读神学的时候神学院用的诗歌本，is the Trinity Hymnal OPC 1961.是1961年第一版的《三一圣诗》，正统长老会的。By the time you finish looking through the hymns about God，the Trinity，all of His attributes。你从第一首开始翻，神、神的属性，刚才我念的那几个属性还有三位一体的话，you are at hymn number ninety to a hundred，已经到第90到100首了。Then creation and providence，然后创造、护理，then Jesus Christ，然后耶稣基督，He’s God，he’s man，prophet，priest and king，祂是神他是人、先知、祭司、君王，humility，exaltation，祂的谦卑、祂的升高，and of course in there is the cross and resurrection.当然就会来到十字架跟复活。By the time you get to the cross and resurrection，you are at about hynm number two hundred to two hundred and twenty，到了十字架跟复活的时候已经到第200-220首了。One hundred hymns about God’s attributes，光是上帝的属性有100首可以选的，some of them are from the Psalm.有些是诗篇。So I am saying that for independent evangelical churches，所以对独立教会，福音派的教会，in the past our weakness tends to be on this point.这个是我们的弱点。
Now evangelical churches tend to sing and read the Bible about Jesus and the cross and his love for us，福音派的教会喜欢唱诗读经赞美耶稣基督、祂的十字架、祂给我们的大爱，all of that I endorse.我完全支持的。But I tend to move that into after the first hymn of praise，我一般是放在第一首赞美的诗歌之后，sometimes I put it at the first hymn.有的时候我把它放在第一首的。I mean it is appropriate to praise Jesus，the Son of God.我们赞美耶稣——神的儿子是正确的，是适当的。But we must not forget the Father and the Spirit，但不要忘记圣父、圣灵。We remember the cross and the resurrection，我们纪念十字架和复活，let’s not forget Creation and the Providence，不要忘记创造、护理，don’t forget the old testament.不要忘记旧约。And so I try to strike a balance to give the congregation a healthy diet.所以我尽可能平衡给弟兄姐妹吃一个有营养的大餐。
I mean over a period of three months，譬如说三个月下来，thirteen Sundays，十三个主日呢，you will at some point be praising God for Creation，Providence and Salvation，你会赞美上帝的创造、护理、救赎，you will be praising the Father，Son and Holy Spirit，你会称赞圣父、圣子、圣灵，you will be reading from the old testament and the new testament，你会读旧约跟新约的经文，you will be talking about the cross and the resurrection，你会赞美耶稣的十字架、复活，but also union with Christ，也会讲到与基督联合，repentance and faith悔改跟信心，justification and sanctification，称义、成圣，law and grace.律法和恩典。All of these are the responsibility of those who choose hymns，sermons and Bible readings，选诗歌选经文讲道的人要负责，to provide a healthy diet for the entire congregation.为整个会众设计一个营养的大餐。Not every Sunday，你不可能每个一个星期就做完的，but over one to three months大概在一个月两个月三个月里面，you’ve got to cover all of these，一定要全部都涉及到，otherwise you are like certain of our fellow citizens in this beloved Southeast Asian country，不然你就好像我们本国一些的友族的爸爸妈妈跟孩子。
as I sit or stand in the shopping mall，我在你们的购物中心，不论是站还是坐在看，let’s say daddy，mommy and baby boy，比如说爸爸妈妈跟小孩子，outside KFC，在Kentucky外面，So what do they buy for the little kid？小孩子吃什么？Mashed potato，薯蓉，No chicken 鸡肉都不买的哦，and then the drink？喝什么的？I’m sorry，if you are from America，you now understand this word，syrup，in America is syrup，糖水的饮料，and some people feed their kids mashed potato and syrup three times a day，有人三餐都给小孩子吃薯蓉跟syrup的糖水的啵，just as New Zealand some of their fellow New Zealanders eat pie or pizza and Pepsi Cola three times a day，就等于有些新西兰的一些的友族们三餐都吃pie或者是Pizza跟喝汽水的，you cannot grow.长不大的。Creation and providence，not just salvation，创造、护理，不仅仅是救恩，Father and Spirit，not just Son，父、灵，不仅仅是子，all testament，five books of Moses，prophets，history，not just the Psalms，旧约不仅仅是诗篇，还有摩西五经、历史书、先知书，Paul，Peter，not just the gospels.保罗、彼得，不仅仅是福音书。All of these go into a worship service.这些全部要放进公共的敬拜里面的。
Number 2，读经。use of scripture. Now in this section I’m introducing a concept that may be very strange and new to some of us，这里有一个原则对我们很多弟兄姐妹是很陌生的，unless you’ve been immersed in a highly reformed church，除非你浸淫在一个非常非常改革宗的教会里面，the reading of scripture.读经。I don’t mean just reading the Bible so we can get the sermon going.不是“哦，快要讲道，快快读一读经”，no，no，no.读经。scripture reading.Now in the Anglican Church and the Catholic Church have three readings.在圣公会跟天主教有三次读经的。Old testament lesson，旧约经训，New testament lesson.新约经训。If you’ve been watching either Catholic Masses or the coronation，或者你看英国人皇帝加冕或者其他这种的崇拜，then comes a high point，高潮来了，Gospel福音书，so somebody holds up a book，有一个人把一本书举起来，it doesn’t look，it is not so thick as a Bible，没有圣经这么厚，very thin.很薄。什么东西来的？what is that？That’s the four gospels one volume，一本四福音，that’s the high point，Jesus Christ of the Bible.耶稣基督是圣经的高潮。
Ok，so they have three readings every Sunday.每次主日我们有三次读经的。Now when I was a，when my father became a Pastor of the Chinese Church in Philadelphia，当我父亲在费城担任牧师的时候，that church has both Presbyterian and Methodist，Baptist influence.这个教会有长老会背景、卫理公会背景、浸信会背景等等。So they have two readings，有两个读经，Old testament lesson ，New testament lesson.旧约读经、新约读经。The principle printed in your notes says，讲义里面说，that’s the job of the Pastor，这个是牧师要做的事，it’s even more important than preaching.比讲道更重要。That’s what our director of worship says.我们的敬拜指南这样说。Because in scripture reading the minister represents God，God is speaking to his people.牧师代表上帝，上帝向会众讲话。The sermon，you can say，is a very long footnote to one of the passages read in the morning.你可以说讲道这个很长很长的注脚，解释某一段刚才读过的经文的。It is important讲道重要，it is most important for edification，对造就是最重要的，but the scripture reading is the most direct way that God speaks from heaven to people on earth.但是读经是上帝最直接从天上向地上的会众讲话的。Now we’ve lost that tradition in many churches，很多教会都已经失去这个的传统。
Ok，we invite pastor so and so to give the sermon today，我们邀请牧师来讲道，No，you don’t invite the pastor，the pastor invite the congregation to come near to God. 不是你来邀请牧师来讲道，牧师邀请会众来敬拜上帝。So we’ve got the who’s the leader，you know，in reverse.我们把这个谁是带领的把它搞到相反了。There are many kinds of scripture readings of course.有各种不同的读经的。I’ve listed them here ABCDE.我列了一些出来。
Now in the next section we’re Gonna talk about prayer.下一段我们要讲崇拜的祷告。Some prayers are very short.有些祷告很短。Now you may not have experienced this recently，大概各位在最近这几年没有经历过，in this church probably not for ten some years now，这个教会可能十多年没有经历过的，very long prayer about five minutes.很长的祷告。After we take a break we’re going to go into this the contents of this long prayer.等下我们休息之后我们来讲这个很长的祷告是怎么一回事。Very rich content.内容非常丰富。时间交给主席。

好，会众请坐。弟兄姐妹，我们可以休息10分钟。需要上洗手间呢，可以到我右手边这里，出去就是洗手间了。谢谢大家！
回应讲道的祷告，那这些短的祷告就不适合太长，特别是讲完道之后的祷告，特别假如不是牧师做那个祷告的话。那个不是听道报告，不要把讲道的1234，一，a、b、c。二，a、b、c、d全部再重复一次啊。这个在世界各国都出现过，不是一个教会的问题。太兴奋要回应那篇讲道，全部都重复一次，所以短的不要长，长的也不要太短。
好了，现在我们来看到第10页。那这个是我们PCA的敬拜指南，也是经过很长时期的历史的演变传承下来的。I mean从加尔文下来的。If we’ve come to the point in prayer，in worship，a short prayer should not be long，long prayer shouldn’t be too short.So we’ve come to the item entitled pastoral prayer. Now I want you to see on page 10 that there is a b c d e and f.第10页有ABCDEF的。
Let me first explain E.我先解释E。Because ABCDF，因为ABCDF are about the different items we pray to God about.都是祷告事项。But E is different，E不一样，E is the statement of the foundation，the reason why we are permitted to pray to God about these things. E是祷告的理由，祷告的基础，我们岂敢来到上帝面前祷告讲这些事呢？因为什么什么什么。OK，warrant，就是获准，得到批准，为什么我们可以这样祷告？
Why is it we can pray like this？Now Let me stop here and explain something.我打岔讲一个东西。If you’ve been to an Anglican church，假如你去过圣公会的教会，one of the best examples of that，一个最好的例子，in Malaysia and then there are examples in Singapore and Hong Kong as well，马来西亚、新加坡、香港都有的。In Malaysia，it would be in St Mary’s Anglican cathedral in historic Kuala Lumpur.在吉隆坡就是在这个历史名胜区的圣马利的圣公会座堂。Singapore will be in St Andrew cathedral near city hall，near Rathaus city. Singapore就是圣安德烈座堂。Hong Kong’s St Andrews cathedral，not cathedrals，St Andrews Anglican church in TST next to McDonald’s. Everybody knows where that McDonald’s is.在香港九龙尖沙咀就是在McDonald旁边的，那也是叫圣安德烈但不是座堂。Now one of the reasons why these three，two St Anglican，one St Mary’s are solid churches.为什么这些教会这么的扎实呢？I think you need to know about a very wonderful seminary on this planet，你要知道这个世界上有一个很好的神学院，in Sydney Australia，在澳洲，the name of it is Moore，not more but Moore.穆尔神学院。All these churches are pastored by ministers，graduates of Moore college，Sydney.这些都是穆尔神学院毕业的牧师牧养的。
Now these Anglican churches have a set form how they pray.这些圣公会祷告有一个格式的。They’re not as long as five minutes，没有5分钟这么长，but in every complete prayer，他们每一个公祷书里面的祷告，一个完整的祷告，has four points.有四点。Number one，address.第一称呼上帝。It’s not very simple.不是很简单的哈。Oh，Merciful father by whom …… who send your son Jesus Christ.它很长的一个的称呼。The way that particular address is used in that prayer is related to the content of the prayer.这个祷告为什么这样称呼上帝？是因为他下面要为什么东西祷告或者为什么东西赞美的。Then there is the meat of the prayer，然后中间就是祷告的内容，it can be praise or can be asking.可能是祈求，可能是赞美的。
The third point，第三点，that’s the warrant.就是祷告的缘由，或者为什么我们可以准这样祷告。Why are we permitted to pray this prayer？Now，of course，the most obvious warrant is because Jesus’s cross and resurrection.当然最明显的就是耶稣为我们钉十字架和复活。There are other warrants.还有其他的。Because God is faithful and sufficient as our father and savior，上帝是信实的，是我们的父亲、我们的救主，祂也是完备的救主，God will do everything we need，神会供应我们一切所需要的，that’s another warrant.是另外一个的原因。And of course we are sinful and needy，我们是罪人，我们有需要，from our need to Jesus Christ’s work to God’s all sufficiency.我们需要耶稣基督的大工，上帝的完备信实。These are all reasons that compel us to pray，这些原因是催逼我们祷告的不同的原因。Now in the Anglican prayers，at least one of these reasons are mentioned.在圣公会的祷告一定会有至少一个原因在这里出现。
Then there’s a fourth element，还有第四个，and it’s concluding a sentence of praise.最后的一个赞美。Ok，You address God，你称呼上帝，you praise or you pray for something，赞美他或者祷告，stating the warrant，原因说出来，and finally you praise God again.最后你还再赞美神。So here in the pastoral prayer item number E is a warrant.所以在这里牧祷第五项就是warrant，就是你为什么要祷告？因为神是听祷告的，祂是完备的，祂必定供应我们所需要的，因为耶稣基督的十字架、宝血跟复活是为我们的成圣，为我们在地上走这个天路，一定供应一切，一定与我们同在。
